There is a weir near Charles Bridge, across the River Vltava, to help regulate the water flow. It is just one of many weirs, dams and a canal built to tame the strong currents along its 434km length. Just up from that on the left bank is the National Theatre, built in the 1800s, which hosts plays, opera and ballet.
